Another Concert.
and so.
todd and i attended another concert last week. just three short days after george wowed us, we went to the True Colors Tour. the Puppini Sisters opened the show - a girl trio that sings covers of pops songs in the style of the andrews sisters. overall they were good. let's see, then was wanda sykes. that's a funny bitch right there. following her was andy bell of erasure. that's an ugly dude right there. after him was joan jett and the blackhearts, then the b-52's, then cyndi lauper. oh - and carson from queer eye was the host. and was actually funny.
so here's how it all breaks down.
puppini sisters - good. fun. entertaining. i like their covers as novelties. they are obviously very talented ladies. 4 out of 5.
wanda sykes - amazing. is she gay? i can't tell. she gives me lesbionic occasionally. but she was really funny. 5 out of 5
andy bell - this dude is ugly. i mean ugly. he can still sing great, i have to say, but he only sang like two old erasure songs. nobody buys his new stuff. well some people do, but i don't, and i'm the one that counts. oh - and all the new stuff sounds exactly the same. oh - and he doesn't have a band, so it' just him in tight leather pants running (prancing?) around the stage to a cd. andy. ANDY! he was a little disappointing, but i did dig the old erasure tunes. 2.5 out of 5.
joan jett and the blackhearts - this bitch can still rock. but here's the thing. once she sang the songs i knew - crimson and clover, hate myself for loving you, um - there was like two others maybe that i can't think of right now... i was done. she looks great, she sounds great, i'm over it. sing your hits and leave the stage. 3 out of 5.
the B-52's - fracking amazing! i danced my ass off during their show. they sang old songs (love shack, roam, your own private idaho, rock lobster) and then new stuff (funplex, juliet of the spirits, opened with pump) they were great. cindy and kate can still sing like crazy bitches, and my keith (he's the guitarist) still looks hot, hot, hot. they were amazing to me. i could've left when they were done. cyndi is great and all, but these guys blew me away. 5 out of 5
cyndi lauper - still sounds amazing. but i just don't like most of her music. i have to say i was super happy she sang i drove all night. that's one of her best covers ever. or did she do it originally? i can't remember. it was either her or roy orbison. anyhoo, she sounds great, she looks great, but i can't listen to her talk for too long. cuz then she sounds stupid. but when she was done, i was all too happy, mostly because i was D-R-U-N-K and tired (we'd been there for like 5 hours - geesh). i'd give her a 3.5 out of 5.
so - what does that add up to... 23 out of 30? ooo. that's not great. overall, a good time. but individually - eh. id' take wanda sykes opening for the b-52's - and that's it - any day.
ok. that's it for today.
hasta.
